Telephones
Land Lines
Telefonica is the Spanish telecommunications
network. If there is an existing telephone line in your
new property you will need to have the existing account
transferred into your name – simply phone Telefonica,
provide your details and arrange a method of payment
(you will need to quote either a Passport Number or
NIE/NIF number). You may also need the NIE/NIF or Passport
Number of the previous account holder. Contact Telefonica
Customer Services if you wish to install a new line.
Mobiles
There are many mobile phone companies operating
in Spain but “Movistar”, “Vodafone”
and “Orange” are three of the biggest suppliers.
The cheapest place to purchase mobile phones is usually
in the large hypermarkets such as “Carrefour”,
located outside major towns along the coast. There are
numerous options, contract phones (don’t forget
your passport and/or NIE/NIF Number) or pay as you go.
Enquire fully into tariffs before buying as some options
are far more expensive than others and it is worth doing
some investigating.
