Modern Art
Alicante (Costa Blanca): Museo Municipal Casa de la
Asegurada: This building, constructed in the 17th Century,
now houses one of the largest collections of modern
art in the Costa Blanca. Comprised mainly of works by
major artists of the fifties such as Zobel, Alfaro and
Canogar, the collection also includes a few predecessors
such as Gris and Picasso. (Location: 3, Santa Maria

Elche (Costa Calida): Museum of Contemporary Art: A
modern gallery with emphasis on work by local artists

Calpe (Costa Blanca): The Annual Festival of "Moros
y Christianos" held at different times, in different
villages throughout the coastal areas of Spain are famous
for their beautiful Medieval and Moorish costumes, a
selection of which are permanently on display in the
Old Town of Calpe on the Costa Blanca (Admission Free:
Location: Museo Festero, Calle Jose Antonio 6, Casco
Antiguo, Calpe).
Elche (Costa Calida): Museum L’Alcudia: Numerous
ancient artefacts on display including the Iberian Vase
“La Tonta del Bote” and the Dama de Elche
“Herma de Baco”. Remains from Iberian temples
and the Roman Temple of Juno are just some of the exhibits
