Padron
(Municipal Register)
Having moved to Spain, it is important that you sign
onto the Municipal Register “Padron” for
your area as soon as possible. Your name will need to
appear on the Padron in order for you to sign up for
the Spanish Health Service and, indeed, it is a legal
requirement to register. Inclusion on the Padron also
entitles you to vote in local and European elections.
In order to register, you must visit your local Town
Hall with your Residence card or passport and proof
of residence, (e.g. a rental contract). If you are keen
to vote, you must specifically state that you wish to
do so at the Town Hall as you may not otherwise automatically
be included in the Electoral Roll.
