All three branches of police are armed and should be treated with due respect. Should you be the victim of a robbery, you should in the first instance contact the Policia Local (although you will probably have to visit the Guardia Civil in order to complete a crime form). It is a good idea to have an interpreter or Spanish-speaking person with you if possible if you need to visit any police station as they will not necessarily have English-speaking translators in situ.
