A high proportion of people choosing to live in Spain
on a permanent basis are either of pension age or have
taken early retirement and throughout the coast, from
the Costa Blanca to Costa Almeria, there is a vast Expat
support and social network in place, another reason
why Spain is so popular with the British. From drama
groups to painting lessons, bowls, bridge and golf societies,
social and support groups for the gay community, for
those divorced, widowed or separated, the list goes
on! English speaking newspapers (such as the weekly
Costa Blanca News) provide extensive listings of the
clubs and societies in each area.
