Starting a Business or becoming Self Employed
It is a very complicated business liaising with any
Government bodies in Spain, especially if you do not
have a good grasp of the Spanish language. It is worthwhile
visiting a Gestoria, (Administrator/Accountant) who
can give you relevant advice and organise appropriate
paperwork should you wish to purchase a Spanish company
name or register your business. Fees should be quite
reasonable. The Gestoria can also organise and submit
the necessary quarterly and year end tax returns. If
you declare yourself as self-employed the process is
easier, however, you will still need a Gestoria for
your financial returns. Currently, minimum contribution
towards the Spanish Social Security system if you are
self-employed stands at around €250 per calendar
month.
